curriculum vitae Annick Peetermans studied medical and social sciences at the Free University of Brussels from 1998 to 2001. Earlier, she was trained to be a social nurse. In June 2002, she obtained a teaching certificate for higher education at the Catholic University of Leuven (K.U.Leuven). She started out in 1995 as a company nurse at the 'Groep Boerenbond' in Leuven. From 1996 on she worked for 6 years as a consultative nurse for the 'Landsbond der Christelijke Mutualiteiten, where she acquired experience in the social insurances, especially in the field of home and elderly care. In May 2002, she became a research associate at HIVA in the social and economic policy sector. Among other things she studied the possibilities of modern technology (especially videotelephony) for the home care.
